This is the latest version of the Windows operating system with a new user interface and other new features, such as the new Microsoft Store, a new AI-powered personalized feed and best-in-class browser performance in Microsoft Edge, integrated into the taskbar. What’s new in Windows 11: – Windows 11 gets a completely new design. Microsoft definitely needs a good reason to retract its previous statements and abandon Windows 10 in any case, introducing a new operating system number. And a completely new design is perfect for this. The Redmond giant has long been preparing a redesign of the upgrade, codenamed Sun Valley (“Sun Valley”) – under this name, apparently, the Windows 11 operating system was available.

– Start and system items float above the bottom bar

The Sun Valley project flickered on the network for a long time – Microsoft regularly announced details of the new interface style, insiders shared previously unknown information, and popular designers in their circles drew realistic concepts based on all this data. Start is the calling card and face of every current version of Windows. It is not surprising that developers will rework it in Windows 11, although not so much in functional terms as in visual terms – the Start window will float above the bottom bar. Admittedly, these minor changes make the system look much fresher. According to information from the Internet, Microsoft will not radically change the “insides” of this menu – the innovations will only affect the design of the window itself.

– Right angles will disappear, and they will be replaced by curves

. The action center is combined with control keys – a similar one has long been used in some other operating systems. Almost all mentions of this new menu indicate that it will be an island – the control buttons will be located in a separate bar, notifications in another, and individual items (for example, the player) in another separate bar. In fact, internal and concept designers disagree on this issue – some are sure that Microsoft will not change its traditions and will retain right angles, while others are sure that Microsoft will follow the fashion for curves in 2021. The latter better fits the definition of a “completely new Windows” – floating menus alone are not enough to consider a new design truly new.

– There will be a transparent background with a blur everywhere

Curves are expected to affect practically everything in the system, from context menus and system panels to all application windows. The opinions of concept designers also differ on this issue – some draw curves in a wide variety of interface elements, others combine them with right angles. There are disagreements on the Web about the style of window display islands, corner design and the floating effect of the menu, but almost everyone agrees on the transparency of windows. Most leaks and design renders show transparency and blurring in all windows, whether it’s at least the Start menu or Explorer. Moreover, these effects are even included in the assembly of the canceled Windows 10X operating system, which Microsoft developed in parallel with the Sun Valley project for devices with two screens and weak gadgets.

– A new font, which has already been shown

The so-called acrylic transparency implies the use of new effects when hovering over elements, as well as more space between elements – the areas of the interface with which the user interacts are definitely becoming larger, and the page titles are becoming thicker. Windows 11 is likely to use the default responsive font Segoe UI Variable, which already appeared in Windows 10 Build 21376 for Insiders. Its advantage is that it is equally suitable for small texts and large labels.
