The prequel to the original Dune tells the story of how the Rossak Brotherhood became Bene Gesserit. The incident involving the use of Valea Harkonnen’s voice was caused by the so-called “Dune Mentats”. The three books intertwine the development of the Sisterhood, Mentats, Navigators, and Doctor Whores.

This spin-off is more like Game of Thrones than Dune

I said it, Dune: The Prophecy is everything I hoped it would be and more. It’s a great spin-off of the beloved film franchise. I have to start by saying that I’ve never read the source material or seen the original film.

I love both of them, so I had high expectations for this series

My Dune experience is based on the two Dune films that came out in recent years starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya. Both of those films (particularly Dune: Part Two) are two of my favorite films that I’ve seen in recent years. Dune: The Prophecy is a series set 10,000 years before the Dune films begin and about how the Harkonnen sisters founded the Bene Gesserit to fight the forces that threaten the future of humanity.

The series may be more Game of Thrones than Dune, but regardless… it’s a lot of fun

The most important thing about this series is that it does exactly what it was supposed to do, which is to deepen our understanding of the Bene Gesserit. You don’t have to watch both Dune movies to enjoy it, but you’ll definitely enjoy it more if you do.
