Dune: Prophecy 2024– DVD9.DDP New Episode Magnet
Two Harkonnen sisters battle forces that threaten the future of humanity and found a legendary sect that would become known as the Bene Gesserit. Whether exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are what science fiction is all about. This series uses material from the Great Schools of Dune trilogy by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. The backstory to the original Dune tells the story of how the Sisterhood of Rosak became the Bene Gesserit. The incident involving the use of Valea Harkonnen’s voice was caused by the so-called “Dune Mentats.” All three books intertwine the development of the Sisterhood, the Mentats, the Navigators, and the Doctor Whores. This is referenced in “The Crazy Cartoon Cast” AniMat: The New Normal (2020). I wanted to keep it short and to the point, but I felt the need to expand on my thoughts. So, here it is. There was a time when the writers knew how to weave exposition into the story without it feeling strained and contrived. I get that this is the first episode, but do they have to explain everything as if it wasn’t common knowledge? Watson (Valya), Mark Strong (Emperor), Travis Fimmel (Heart), and Sara-Sophie Busnina (Princess) give good performances. I feel like the show is in good hands. The rest of the characters left me indifferent. They drive the story, but they’re forgotten. I guess we’ll see how it develops. I had a hard time focusing on the first episode. It felt like it was part of a whole that couldn’t be separated. I’ll wait until the whole season before I watch any more episodes. They did a great job with the visual effects. The CGI is top-notch, the costumes are perfect, the tone of Villeneuve’s vision is maintained and expanded upon. The art department should win awards for how beautiful it looks.
