A high-energy journey through the life of Pharrell Williams, told through the lens of LEGO animation. Animal Logic, which animated the previous four Lego films, did not return to animate the film, as this would have been considered a Warner Bros. deal, despite Lego and Warner Bros. sharing the rights to the original franchise. Instead, the animation was created by Pure Imagination Studios in Los Angeles and Zebu Animation Studios in India. Both Pure Imagination and Zebu have previously recreated the style of the original film franchise through theme park rides, PSAs, and The Simpsons (1989) episode Brick Like Me (2014). A biopic about Pharrell Williams, but made with Lego, cool and original. But you have to ask yourself who was it made for? Since it’s boring to be a kids movie, most adults wouldn’t watch it because they’d think it was a kids movie. I watched it myself last night and I found myself really bored, this biopic made with Lego was the only thing that saved this movie, otherwise no one would be interested except Pharrell Williams super fans. I also don’t know how Focus Features has stayed around all these years, it’s the only movie company that has had a consistently empty theater every time I’ve gone even for a single piece, there were only 5 people in total. The other 2 movies I’ve seen this year on Focus Features had a completely empty theater and I was the only one in the audience, so I’m very rarely alone in the theater.
