The only location unavailable was Winfield House, the real-life residence of the American ambassador
Chronology
In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, is given a high-profile job for which she is ill-suited, with tectonic implications for her marriage and political future. The producers convinced both the American & British governments to allow them to use real-life locations as filming locations for the series, including the still-newly opened American Embassy (at Nine Elms) in 2018. Britain allowed filming inside the Foreign Secretary’s office, a rare honor for any film or film production, especially an American one. Although accurately described as occupying the largest plot of residential land (11 acres) in London outside of Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming purposes.

The characters are phenomenally written and all somewhat enigmatic. Their dialogue is fast-paced and engaging, and the story unfolds in chaotic political directions. It doesn’t have the same strong tone as other similar shows. I’d like to compare it to House of Cards a bit, but that doesn’t quite fit the bill.
It felt similar to The Night Agent, but much better
It has a touch of Succession, but it doesn’t quite fit. I see reviews complaining about the lead character and her disheveled appearance and abrasive demeanor, but that’s her thing! "You want people in power who don’t *want* to be in power". Kate is focused on the mission and the goal at hand, where people’s lives hang in the balance.
She’s good at her job so no one thinks about her decent behavior
What she wears, how she looks, even when she sleeps, all come second to the primary mission. I thought her style fit the story perfectly and it was a refreshing change of pace. The best part of the show is the relationships everyone has with each other. I rarely like every character on a show, but this one did it for me.
